Please ensure that you have the right account for USPS.
 
Going to USPS.com and signing up for an account is NOT the correct way to proceed.
  
You must go to: http://www.usps.com/webtools/ and on the right hand side click the link under ACCESS USPS WEBTOOLS - Sign up.
 
After you signup, USPS assigns a userid for you.
 
Then you must follow all directions they give you, then you must contact USPS to switch your account to LIVE so you are authorized to connect to the USPS server.
  

After signing up you will receive an email from usps.com:

1. Confirmation - click here to see a sample confirmation
2. Thank You for registering - click here to see a sample email.

Here are the following steps to take to create your USPS account for use on our Primware Site Builder.

1. Please click on the link below and fill out the online form for a USPS webtools account.

2. USPS will send you a CONFIRMATION.

3. USPS will EMAIL you with YOUR NEW account NUMBER.

4 . Once you receive YOUR account Number, click on the link below to go back to USPS and confirm your account number.

THE CONFIRMATION STATED THE FOLLOWING:
Please note that additional permission is required for our Address Information APIs.
If you wish to use these tools, please register your Web Tools User ID at: http://www.usps.com/webtools/webtoolsapirequestform.htm
 
5. FILL OUT THIS ADDITIONAL FORM with your new USPS user id.

6. Go online to your site builder admin account and add your USPS Web Tools User ID to both password and user fields in the set up USPS shipping charges option. THEN PROCESS one ORDER.............. You may not see anything working....... this is ok.


7. NOW call USPS and tell them you are ready to go live.

I think they are open every day of the week from 7:00AM to 11:00PM Eastern Time.

Each agent responds differently... give them the information they request.
They may say they have not received a test...or that they have received only one test and need more....

         .... but tell them you are ready and no other tests are required for your Primware Site Builder shopping cart and to Please activate your Webtools account.

8. Once USPS activates your USPS Webtools account, your Primware Site Builder will be able to interact.
 
9. Now your customer can interact with USPS.
You can add the following info to your HOW TO PAGE

USING THE USPS SHIPPING CALCULATOR:
1. Once you proceed to check out, there is a link at the very bottom of your order. click on a shipping charge quote link and a pop up window will appear.

2. Please enter your shipping zip code to the USPS shipping cost generator.
Based on your purchase order, this may only take a few seconds... and USPS shipping costs for your order will be generated.
 
3. Once the generator has calculated your shipping cost, close the USPS Generator Pop-Up window and proceed to filling out your customer billing and shipping information.

4. Click Submit and follow any further instructions, an auto response email will be sent to you confirming your order.
